Difference between a Captive and Independent Agent ?

What is the difference between a Captive and Independent Agent ?

JUST US INSURANCE – MEDICARE TIP OF THE DAY

Captive agents work for only one insurance company and thus can only offer that one insurance companies’ products. The advantage for the Captive Agent is that many of the overhead costs are paid for them, including Marketing costs. It is a great option for Insurance agents just getting started!

Independent agents can sell policies from multiple Insurance Companies. The advantage for the independent agent is that they are able to offer the majority of plans in their area and this can be very beneficial for their clients. This requires more training and more certifications.

There are also a few agents that only have a Life License and they are ONLY ABLE TO OFFER  Medicare Supplements only ,
however, are not certified to be able to offer Medicare Advantage Plans or Medicare Drug Plans.

Just Us Insurance not only has our Life Insurance license and can offer Medicare Supplements, we also have our
Medicare Ahip Certifications and Annual Training with Each of the Multiple companies we represent! This allows us to offer the Majority of Medicare Supplement Plans / Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Drug Plans, and we feel this is very important because everyone is different, and their budget and needs are unique!
