Medicare and Hearing Aids

It is your responsibility to cover the full cost of your hearing aids since Medicare does not cover hearing aids or hearing health services. In addition to the type of hearing aid you select, the price of your hearing aid will depend on whether you choose to bundle it with audiology services and the cost of batteries and/or other accessories.

Hearing aids that can be bought over-the-counter are now approved by the FDA for mild to moderate hearing impairments as of August 2022. The purchase of over-the-counter hearing aids does not require a prescription, examination, or fitting by an audiologist. A significantly lower price is expected for OTC hearing aids than for prescription hearing aids.
