Medicare Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (DSNPs) are designed to streamline coordination for those who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, commonly referred to as dual eligibles.
These specific Medicare Advantage plans, known as DSNPs, are tailored to individuals who are dual eligibles. Due to the intricate health, behavioral, and social care needs of dual eligibles, these specialized plans aim to amalgamate the services of both programs, providing integrated care that simplifies management for patients.
Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans, also termed D-SNPs, welcome members who have concurrent entitlement to Medicare (under title XVIII) and to state medical assistance from Medicaid (under title XIX). Depending on the individual’s eligibility and their state’s policies, certain Medicare expenses may be subsidized by the state.
